While a number of critics have labelled the new Windows OS a ‘consumer platform’ and predict that many companies may never adopt it; changes in the control IT has over technology adoption cycles and a largely consumer-driven business  IT landscape might prove them wrong.

The system appears to offer something for everyone: touch-screen functionality for tablet enthusiasts, a slick new interface, and multiple versions to make it compatible with traditional desktop PC software. Over 4 million copies were sold in the first weekend of launch, with numbers reaching into the tens of millions through OEM deals.

“The lines between the consumer and the enterprise are blurring,” said Ron Markezich, head of Microsoft’s Enterprise & Partner Group. “Business customers are looking forward to Windows 8 because they don’t have to compromise between tablet and PC.”

Cibecs Version 4.6.0 ensures that businesses looking to upgrade to the new Windows 8 don’t get left behind when it comes to protecting critical endpoint data. Cibecs offers the simplest laptop and desktop data protection solution for IT, giving IT complete central control and ensuring that confidential data is automatically and securely backed up.

Even as it launches Windows 8, a key priority for Microsoft is to get customers off the decade-old Windows XP – which still runs on around 41 percent of the world’s PCs. For the last three years, it has urged enterprise customers to move to Windows 7, and it has said it does not expect organizations to drop those plans because of Windows 8.

That effectively means many companies will downgrade new PCs to run on Windows 7, not 8, over the next few years. It also means that multiple businesses will be migrating user data over to new Operating Systems, which can present a high-risk, resource-intensive project for IT departments.

One of the biggest benefits of Cibecs for businesses is simplified, faster data migration to new Operating Systems or PC’s. Cibecs not only removes the risk of losing user data during a migration project, and prevents the time wasted on trying to find data in non-standard locations – Cibecs reduces bandwidth and storage requirements and ensures fast and easy data restores.
